Most romance films are targeted at females rather than males. Women are known to be the more emotional side of relationships so women are able to connect with the characters more and feel the emotions that they are portraying in the movie. Romance movies can also be watched by boys, but it is quite rare; stereotypically, men are known to prefer action, adventure and some sort of violence in movies. However, a huge target audience is couples, especially young couples.
Due to the rating of my film being a 15, the age range for my target audience would probably be from 15-25; possibly even older. This age group includes the young couples who are likely to watch the film together. I also believe that people over the age of 25 might look at the actors/actresses in the trailer and think straight away that it would be just a teen movie.
I gave 5 different people my questionnaire about the target audience for my movie.

From the results you can tell that most people prefer to watch movies in the comfort of their own home. This is why people mostly find out about movies from either TV trailers or online trailers. Cinema isn't as popular anymore due to streaming and downloading via the internet, so i'm not surprised that cinema wasn't ticked for anyone's answer. All the girls like romantic movies due to them being enjoyable to watch or being able to relate to the characters and end up wanting that perfect relationship that the movie always portrays, however one boy said he likes romance films when he can watch them with his girlfriend which links with the idea of young couples being a good target audience.
